A mist was settling over the moors and it dawned on me things could quickly go pear-shaped. I know this because I was in the bicycle business for twenty years. Loading Comments Then there was seat mentioned in the previous post. The Ossa side stand is beautifully-made forged item, more than strong enough to support a 74kg bike. It is powered by a two-stroke, liquid-cooled, cc, single cylinder lump, paired to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, that can produce a claimed 37 horsepower and 25 Nm of torque. I found myself having to ride faster and faster to avoid getting bogged down. Web: www. They are becoming boringly predictable. Very good for me as I am short. Now remember, when you run a fleet of trail bikes which take you and groups of customers to the back of beyond, boring is Good and surprises are Bad.

Regular dousings in the river Onny three or four times a week coupled with healthy dollops of Shropshire clay and mud being compacted against the outer seals will see off the even the finest Japanese made precision bearing just as quick as its Eastern Bloc counterpart. Is there anything worse than fixing a puncture in front of an audience? I intend to keep it that way and I believe sympathetic useage is the key to keeping everyone happy. Indirectly, water cooling also helps to reduce emissions and controls decibels. One which would bring the company into contact with customers with potentially higher expectations of sales and service support… For a start trail bikes are more likely to cover more miles at higher revs for longer periods. Don't have an account? In addition, it comes with a telescopic front fork coupled to a rear monoshock with progressive linkage, front and rear disc brakes, laced wheels, an under-seat exhaust system, wide handlebars, a race-inspired lviery, a blacked-out frame with an aluminium swingarm and a single seat. Sadly, none of which could deal with a dropped valve and then, just as I was contemplating the logistical nightmare of rescuing a dead bike from the middle of nowhere Jason held aloft…. Pete, or Father Pete as we like to call him, hears yet another confession from one of his flock. What you get when you yank on the throttle is a healthy bark from the muffler and a willing surge of power that comes on strong, but not in a manner that will frighten the chipmunks.

At a glance

Having built one or two bikes myself over the years I understand the logic of sourcing the best possible donor bike possible. In addition, it has fittings such as a Marzocchi telescopic front fork coupled to a monoshock with progressive linkage in the rear, laced wheels with off-road tires mounted on them, front and rear disc brakes, a single seat, a small headlight and analogue instrumentation dials. Unfortunately manufacturers would struggle to get the high specific power outputs customers now demand [even though very few of us can actually use it]. The policy seems to be working because I invariably get a cheery thumbs up when I take a group through some of the many farmyards the trails pass through. It broke down on four of them and suffered numerous minor component failures before snapping its rear suspension. Just for the record let me state the fuel capacity of a MK3 Gas Gas Pampera is not the useful 9 litres quoted in the handbook. Pete, or Father Pete as we like to call him, hears yet another confession from one of his flock. A quick trawl of the web revealed sheared dog bones is a more common fault than Ossa would care to admit. I parked up the Pamp and climbed out of the ditch to get a better view. Also, it has been fitted with a Marzocchi telescopic front fork coupled to a monoshock with progressive linkage in the rear, laced wheels with off-road tires mounted on them, front and rear disc brakes, a single seat, a small headlight and analogue instrumentation dials. Gas Gas Pampera &

  • A number of female hasgas pamper came on to the stand at Telford and asked to sit on the Pamperas we had on display.
  • We had no problems with the starter on this bike; it fired up smoothly and quickly every time - which is something that can't be said for every small volume European bike that comes to our very public, hasgas pamper, not even slightly secret testing ground.
  • Initial deployment of the Park TL5s.
  • Going to cc with a Dell'Orto carb did not produce more power, but it did give the torque a hurry up.
  • And so, out with the old and in with the new.
  • Mick was handing out the concours awards.

This is undoubtedly one of the world's best learner's bikes. I know that's a bold statement, but I've ridden the new Pampera long enough and far enough to get the drift. But the really smart thing about this bike is that Gas Gas has indeed made a decent machine for beginners, but because of the grunty cc four-stroke engine learners won't have to 'trade up' when they've developed the skills to ride a bit faster. This bike has enough go to keep you interested long after you've first taken the plunge, and that's because it's based on the Gas Gas FSR engine. The crankcases are the same, although the Pampera version has the '05 bore and stroke 95 x The muffler is the same - a solid-looking item with a riveted end-cap that you can drill out when you have to repack the cylinder. The main reason for going to a carburettor was to save money. The reason for going to a was that Gas Gas no longer has a cc four-stroke engine in its dirt bike range. Spark is supplied by a Ducati digital CDI unit, and start is electric with a kick-start back-up. We had no problems with the starter on this bike; it fired up smoothly and quickly every time - which is something that can't be said for every small volume European bike that comes to our very public, not even slightly secret testing ground. Some of them sound like a coughing seal. Overall the bike seems nicely finished and the ergos are good too. This bike does not have the rock-hard seat found on all the other Gas Gas models right now, so you can ride all day without the fear of developing a case of nuclear monkey butt. The Pampera is probably slightly cramped for taller riders, but that's because the bars are a little low compared to the setup on the enduro. The instrument pack is very straight forward and easy to use and the numerals, although digital, are easy to read when you're thundering along a trail. For the trail, the Pampera is blessed with a damn fine engine. Going to cc with a Dell'Orto carb did not produce more power, but it did give the torque a hurry up. What you get when you yank on the throttle is a healthy bark from the muffler and a willing surge of power that comes on strong, but not in a manner that will frighten the chipmunks. This is a good engine for dealing with technical sections at your own pace, but it'll snap to attention and distribute shrapnel if that's what you want. It will also chug along pretty much anywhere in the rev range while you, the learner, come to grips with these strange and wondrous machines.

After being off the road for nigh on ten months the Ossa Explorer has finally been returned to Ossa following a refund of the purchase price. Last May, hasgas pamper, after numerous relatively minor but very inconvenient problems the bike suffered main bearing failure which Ossa, to their credit, repaired quite promptly. My experiences with the bike left me feeling Ossa failed to appreciate the wider implications of building a bike which targeted customers outside their core customer base of club trials riders. One which would bring the company into contact with customers with potentially higher expectations hasgas pamper sales and service support… For a start trail bikes are more likely to cover more miles at higher revs for longer periods, hasgas pamper. Buzzing along at rpm in top gear on a stretch of dual carriageway is a world away from plonking around a disused quarry using short busts of throttle to climb over hasgas pamper trials section. The i trials gearbox ratios fitted to the Explorer [ie five ultra close ratios topped off by a very tall sixth] made keeping up with the customer Pamperas on the road sections very hard work. The Ossa never seemed to have the right gear available for the job in hand. When climbing hills on the road it was either falling off the torque curve in top or screaming its nuts off in fifth. Not pleasant, hasgas pamper.
